Definitely doable but it is not a casual stroll to get down. Also, if you get down just know that the blue is about 37 degrees year round!
Where do you park for Tamolitch Blue Pool?
From the McKenzie River Ranger Station, drive east on Highway 126 (10 miles) to Trail Bridge Reservoir. A left turn onto FS Road 730 (at the sign to Trail Bridge Reservoir). After crossing the river, turn right onto FS Road 2672-655 and proceed for half a mile to the parking area. To the trailhead sign, make a short ascent, then start hiking upstream.
How difficult is the hike to Blue Pool Oregon?
The hike through the old-growth forest and the ground can be quite muddy. The trail also has some volcanic rocks which make it unique but, it can be sharp in some sections. So, watch out for the lava rocks and definitely bring some hiking boots and maybe some hiking poles.

Are dogs allowed at Blue pool?
Yes. Dogs are allowed here, but if you plan on climbing down into the blue pool then you may want to leave your pup at home. You either need some mad free-hand climbing skills or a rope to repel down. But, in any case, it’s likely not safe for dogs. There’s no trail that leads directly down into the blue pool.

You might also consider paring this with either Bigelow Hot Springs [12 minutes away] or the Koosah & Sahalie Falls [5 minutes away].
- Both Koosah & Sahalie Falls are very close to the Tamolitch Falls (Blue Pool). The observation platform to see Koosah is less than 100 feet from the parking lot if you are too tired for another hike but want to see it. It’s also dog friendly.
- The Bigelow Hot Springs is also super close to the Tamolitch Falls (Blue Pool). You can soak in the hot springs after your hike. This hot springs is pet friendly.
